Some complications captivate less through their showiness than through their subtlety, and behind a seemingly simple action, they reveal remarkably sophisticated mechanics.
Not all complications seek to multiply functions. On the contrary, some captivate through the way they simplify their use. This is precisely the approach taken by the Longines Master Collection Chrono Monopusher, which brings back an iconic design from watchmaking history. Here, a single pusher integrated into the crown is all that is needed to start, stop, and reset the chronograph. This solution is as elegant as it is technical, drawing inspiration from the first models developed by the brand as early as 1911.
This reinterpretation is housed in a 41mm-diameter stainless steel case with balanced proportions. Two dials are available: a silvery opaline dial accented with gold Arabic numerals and hands that give it a warm, sun-kissed hue, or a very pure icy blue dial paired with rhodium-plated details. Both feature a barley grain finish, blued sub-dials, and a pulsometer scale once used by doctors to measure heart rate. The watch is completed by a brown or anthracite alligator leather strap fitted with a folding clasp featuring a micro-adjustment system.
Longines employs the exclusive hand-wound L799.5 caliber to bring these displays to life. Equipped with a column wheel, a silicon balance spring, and a 68-hour power reserve, it is visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back. With this new addition to the Master Collection, the Saint-Imier-based watchmaker demonstrates that a century-old complication can still captivate those who value fluidity of movement.
