MILLE MIGLIA RACE EDITION 2020
PERPETUATING THE LEGEND
The manufacture pursues the spirit of the classical motor race through two limited editions which commemorate this transalpine race between the towns of Brescia and Rome.
Chopard sets us a date yet again on Italian tarmac for the famous Mille Miglia race. The brand, partner and official timekeeper of the event for some 32 years now, unveils a commemorative limited series for each edition. For 2020, it proposes two 42 mm-diameter timepieces. 250 ever-so-refined-looking pieces are created around a case combining steel and ethical rose gold. 1,000 chronographs take on a beadblasted DLC steel case. Whichever takes your fancy, both center stage the same vintage features on their black-hued dial. The hour and minute hand duo hovers over tri-compax-positioned counters. In addition to the 30-minute totalizer at 9 o’clock and the 12-hour one at 6 o’clock, a small seconds set at 3 o’clock completes the ensemble making for wonderful visual harmony. Time measurement is accurate to the second thanks to the central direct-drive. A date appears in an aperture at 4:30. The ensemble is encircled by an hour chapter comprising Arabic numerals painted in beige Super-LumiNova®.
Both references are equipped with a selfwinding movement (42-hour power reserve), chronometry-certified by the COSC. A must-of-musts proof of accuracy for collectors. Their caliber now stands out with a stop-seconds device for setting time precisely.
The Mille Miglia Race Edition 2020 watches are complemented by a perforated black calfskin strap clasped with an ardillon buckle.
