PIAGET POLO 79 TWO-TONE Piaget

THE 1970S GLAMOUR ERA

Just under half a century after its creation and two years after its reissue, this elegant, slender watch returns to the forefront, this time blending the spirit of its two predecessors with a unique combination of two shades of gold.

It symbolizes both intellectual richness and a certain worldly carefreeness. A jet-setter, certainly, but one whose creative roots lie in a passion for this team sport where matches are marked by galloping horses and formidable mallet strikes. From this golden age, now long past, remains Piaget’s desire to fuse the two noble arts of watchmaking and goldsmithing—a precious amalgam embodied by the Piaget Polo 79 Two-Tone. In 2024, as the brand celebrated its 150th anniversary, it unveiled a reissue crafted entirely in yellow gold that proved immensely successful. Then, in 2025, a version clad entirely in white gold followed, succeeded this year by a variant that uniquely combines the strengths of both.

Its design is so well-conceived that the 38mm-diameter, 7.45mm-thick case, the integrated bracelet ending in a triple-fold clasp, and the dial adorned with a pair of dauphine-style hands literally form a single, seamless whole. Indeed, its design features wide bands of satin-finished white gold interspersed with polished yellow gold godrons. What is fascinating, aside from its beauty, is its slimness, which enhances its overall ergonomics. This impressive slimness (2.35mm) is the result of its mechanical self-winding movement with a micro-rotor, the ultra-thin Caliber 1200P1, which beats at a gentle frequency of 3hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and delivers a two-day power reserve.
