CARRERA HEUER 02 160 YEARS SPECIAL EDITION
A design inspired by a reference from the 1960s, that of the mythical Carrera, combined with contemporary precision mechanics celebrates the avant-garde spirit.
2020 is an opportunity for TAG Heuer to celebrate the 160th anniversary of Heuer’s creation in Saint-Imier in 1860. To mark the occasion, the festivities will include a limited edition of 1,860 pieces, available starting in June. The Carrera Heuer 02 160 Years Special Edition bears the features of one of the greatest successes of the Manufacture created in the 1960s. On the monochrome brushed and sunburst-silvered dial are the three counters, two chronograph totalizers and a small second hand of the original model. Baton-type hands covered with beige Super-LumiNova® point to an hour circle made up of indexes. The old Carrera Heuer logo at 12 o’clock reinforces the vintage personality of the timepiece.
While the esthetics of this model are inspired by the past, some major evolutions must nevertheless be underlined. The steel case, now water-resistant to a depth of 100 m, sees its diameter increase significantly, from 36 to 39mm. It no longer protects a Valjoux movement as in 1963, but the modern Heuer 02 caliber equipped with a column wheel and a vertical clutch. This self-winding movement precisely orchestrates all time data and the measurement of short times. It also provides the watch with a comfortable 80-hour power reserve. The oscillating weight is revealed through the sapphire crystal caseback and bears the anniversary inscription.
The Carrera Heuer 02 160 Years Special Edition comes with a black alligator leather strap finished with a folding clasp.
