The following year, Audemars Piguet unveiled its latest generation of caliber which combined the two mechanisms. And, this is what we can now discover in the three variations of the Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Royal Oak boasting the regulating device invented by the German watchmaker Alfred Helwig (1886-1974) at the beginning of the 20th century! The 41 mm-diameter case and the octagonal bezel, forever true to the design imagined by Gerald Genta’s inspirational master-touch back in 1972, protect a dial covered with a pattern known as the “Evolutive Tapisserie”. This steel case takes on a smoked-blue hue, the rose gold version adorns a smoked-gray, both offering an exquisite effect. A third titanium variation stands out with a sandblasted slate-gray alternative, snailed around the edges.

The finishes of some of the regulating components can be admired through the cage. Other mechanical elements featuring refined Côtes de Genève decorations can be discovered through the sapphire-crystal caseback.

The stylistics of this trio is enhanced even more with handcrafted finishes alternating satin-brushing and polishing showcasing a matt and glossy aspect which has become one of Audemars Piguet’s signatures.
