IO AUTOMATIC MANUFACTURE
IN THE SPIRIT OF THE TIMES
Until now Hysek has stood out through original designs, but with a first calibre developed in-house, the brand is opening up a new chapter in its history.
Appearances are misleading. When you look at the dial on the Io Automatic Manufacture, you notice that the time information is focused on the essential. But looking closer, you see a whole host of details giving the watch a unique personality. So the slender hour and minute hands have a special design, partly open-work and partly lume-coated. The dial is organised around four stylised figures. The 11 and the 1 are beautifully simple, making good use of the vertical lines in the Roman numerals. In contrast, the 5 and the 7 feature sophisticated lines, underlining the graphic design of the Arabic numerals. At 6 o’clock, a small second hand moves around a bare disc. All the elements are displayed on a dial with a very original structure. Hysek has given it an embossed pattern with a honeycombed geometric shape inspired by a graphite molecule. The visual effect is surprising.
But the most unusual features are hidden inside the 41 or 43mm-wide gold or titanium case. The 145 components, apart from the spiral, the anchor and the barrel spring of the calibre, together form the first self-winding movement wholly produced and assembled in-house. The mechanical architecture has been designed to incorporate a range of complications in the future. In the meantime, the calibre has the advantage of providing a power reserve of around 62 hours with the help of a micro-rotor.
Another striking feature is the strap, which is very much in the spirit of the times. Using a pump system, anyone can change the strap easily without a tool.
