HM 12 THE GUARDIAN MB&F

HM 12 THE GUARDIAN MB&F

HOROLOGICAL TRANSFORMER

Three limited series, Blue, Purple, Green, each issued in just twelve pieces, herald a fascinating new chapter in the history of the Geneva brand’s Horological Machines.

Since the word ‘go’, MB&F has been exploring a one-of-a-kind route where mechanics & movements relinquish convention and become an extension of the inventive world of its founder, Maximilian Büsser and his Friends. In short, the Horological Machines resemble engines, or sorts of incredible creatures, from a far-distant future. The HM12 The Guardian pursues this quest by reconnecting with the original, sci-fi-focused spirit.

Here, jumping hours and trailing minutes are display in symmetry inside a spaceship-shaped grade 5 titanium case. A micro-rotor, adorning an iconic battle-axe, tips its hat to the flying tourbillon reigning at the top. This development of this creation took four years of research to fine tune an in-house-designed movement comprising 646 elements. Yet, the HM12’s true magic lies in its ability to change. A mobile face-shield, driven by an independent movement featuring more than 200 parts, modifies the object’s expression. A second crown makes it easy to trigger on demand. The whole piece looks like a robot’s head. This approach is highlighted even more when you discover its companion imagined with L’Épée. An impressive 38.2 cm-high structure, weighing 15 kg that’s not just used as a stand. It becomes the whole body of this strange mechanical creature. When the watch is placed at the top of this articulated architecture, it changes dimension and turns into a real interactive masterpiece that includes a mechanical thermometer, a magnifying loupe and a UV torch that reveal its luminescent decorations. MB&F continues to make us dream with its HM12 The Guardian.
