GRANDE SONNERIE 6301P Patek Philippe

WAXING LYRICAL

With this creation proposed in the current collection, the Geneva-based manufacture delights savvy music lovers. Three acoustic styles invite to admire the sweet music of time.

In 1924, Patek Philippe presented its first wristwatch equipped with a minute repeater complication. This device could be used to know the time through chiming on request. A low-toned hammer sounded the hours, another, more high-pitched, the minutes. The quarters were obtained by alternating the latter two. For almost a century, the Geneva-based manufacture has never stopped innovating to invite aficionados to know the time by listening to a delicate lyrical harmony. This year, with its 6301P reference, the tuneful function is combined with a grande sonnerie and a petite sonnerie. The first chimes on the hour and quarters by repeating the hours for each quarter. The second automatically rings out the hours and quarters. A trigger, discreetly set at 6 o’clock, invites the wearer to choose the mode they wish. A crown-integrated pusher also invites to launch the minute repeater.

The Movement power reserve indicator (72 hours) is symmetrically positioned with the Sonnerie one (24 hours). Jumping small seconds at 6 o’clock perfectly balance the scenescape. The GS 36-750 PS IRM caliber set in a 44.8 mm-diameter platinum case, plays the role of orchestra conductor majestically. Some 703 components are required to breathe life into this stunning demonstration. The sapphire-crystal caseback invites to admire the mechanism in action.
