VISUAL SENSATIONS

Watchmaking excellence meets haute gastronomy in this new limited series endowed with a case finished in robust, aesthetic Damascus steel.

In every prestigious kitchen of star-rated restaurants, Damascus steel knives contribute to perfecting the gestures of chefs. Renowned for its strength and durability, this metal originated in India and the Middle East over 2,000 years ago. It is crafted from heterogeneous metals creating a unique appearance to the blades with a wavy pattern. The technique evolved over time according to geographical areas and progress in metallurgy. Since 1876, the Swedish company Damasteel has been mastering the production of these products. For its production, they combine a dark 304L steel containing a high carbon content with a lighter 316L steel, well known in the watchmaking industry. This elegant alloy is what was used to machine the 42mm diameter case of Hublot’s Big Bang Unico Gourmet. This limited edition of 200 pieces features unique shimmering moire patterns on the entire case, including the caseback, and on the bezel. To emphasize its original aesthetic, two wristbands accompany this series, one in Velcro®, the other in rubber.

The case shelters a powerful self-winding chronograph movement assembled with 354 components. The HUB1280 offers a comfortable 72-hour power reserve. It coordinates the gyrations of the hour and minute hands, the date display at 3 o’clock, as well as measuring the total time with the 60-minute counter at 3 and the second hand. In watchmaking as in gastronomy, precision and aesthetics whet the appetite.
