SPIRIT PILOT Longines

THE PIONEERING SPIRIT TAKES OFF ONCE AGAIN

The Saint-Imier watchmaker adds a modern-day upgrade boasting a host of great features to its collection of watches inspired by its illustrious conquest-of-the-skies past.

Back in 2020, Longines showcased references in its Spirit collection which took their inspiration from aviator timepieces from the first half of the 20th century. Among these, the three-hand version, available in 40, 42 and then 37 mm, stood out as the ultimate in tool watches. This fall, the winged-hourglass brand invites us to discover a snazzy upgrade, the Spirit Pilot, which flaunts a new smaller-sized 39 mm-diameter, 13.4 mm-thick steel case, waterproof to depths of 100 meters.

The time data layout on its matte black dial is still incredibly well-spaced. The golden-hued hour chapter numerals and hour and minute hands contrast perfectly making this piece highly legible. The extensive use of Super-LumiNova® on these elements ensures reading is ever-so easy, even in the dark. This model is worn on a choice of three wraparounds, a metal bracelet and a brown leather strap, both attached by a folding clasp. The third, a green rubber option, comes complete with a pin buckle. What’s more, a high-performing caliber, forever in keeping with the firm’s desire to constantly marry style and technique, ensures the hands rotate precisely. The timekeeping of the L888.4 selfwinding movement, equipped with a single-crystal silicon hairspring, is certified by the COSC. This accurate, reliable device beats at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations an hour and delivers a comfortable power reserve of 72 hours. The Spirit Pilot, with its great characteristics, is ready to dress up any wrist with Longines’ pioneering spirit.
