WHEN TWO SACRED ARTS ENTWINE

When two firms, one working in watchmaking and the other in apparel, where both are renowned for the quality of their products, team up to create a special edition, well the result can only be superb!

For connoisseurs and fashionistas, the name Momotaro Jeans is not unfamiliar as the Japanese brand, founded in 2006 in Kojima Okayama and whose slogan is “Made by hand without compromise”, stands for irreproachable quality and workmanship… two points for which it is intransigent and which it shares with the Swiss watchmaker Oris. The Japanese firm elevates denim to the grade of noble material which it prints with its famous double white diagonal stripe and enhances with yellow saddle-stitching, a visual signature which can also be admired on the strap of the watch created hand-in-hand with Oris, the Oris x Momotaro Divers Sixty-Five Special Edition.

Its 40 mm-diameter steel-crafted case protects a unidirectional rotating bezel fashioned in bronze, topped by a black ring with white graduations. Beneath the delicately-cambered sapphire crystal, the dial adorns jade green which subtly darkens as it embraces the minute tracker. The various displays – geometric indexes dominated by the Oris blazon silhouette at 12 o’clock, baton-style hour and minute hands, and dot-enhanced direct-drive – take on golden finery set off with the vanilla-lemon of the “Light Old Radium” Super-LumiNova®, which emphasizes the watch’s vintage look.

The Momotaro Divers Sixty-Five, driven by the Oris 733 caliber which delivers a power reserve of 38 hours, is presented in a denim travel case made by Momotaro Jeans.
