ULTRA-CHRON CLASSIC Longines

ULTRA-CHRON CLASSIC Longines

WHEN ELEGANCE RHYMES WITH PERFORMANCE

This reference, which reiterates the stylistic details of a model from 1967, boasts a timeless personality and a highly-efficient movement that still beats at 10 pulses a second.

In 2022, Longines revived watchmaking memory when it launched its Ultra-Chron. What was so special about it? On top of its cushion-shaped case, whose look was inspired by a 1968 dive watch, the piece stood out thanks to its L836.6 caliber, equipped with a high-frequency balance wheel oscillating at 36,000 vibrations an hour. Given this really high rate, its chronometric accuracy was granted certification issued by the independent Geneva-based Timelab. As the saying goes, the same causes produce the same effects. As such, the new Ultra-Chron Classic models, driven by the same selfwinding movement (52 hours of power reserve), reign through their precision and their magnetic resistance as they come with a silicon spring.

Although the 2022-rolled-out version has everything it takes to explore seabeds with its waterproofness tested down to depths of 300 meters, the variations that enhance the range this year more-so prefer a downtown lifestyle setting. Their round steel case, waterproof to depths of 50 meters, is smaller in size with its 37 mm diameter and 10.95 height, which mean these Ultra-Chron Classic are wonderfully versatile. Their sunburst-finished silvered domed dial features essential time data, along with a date at 3 o’clock, displayed perfectly clearly through an hour chapter fringed with markers. To emphasize this natural elegance even more, this upgrade can be worn on a black leather strap or metal bracelet. Once again, the Saint-Imier watchmaker manages to combine its technical heritage with up-to-the-minute design.
