Beware… masterpiece! Fine jewelry makes a date with fine watchmaking around a fascinating creation following in the footsteps of the previous pieces imagined by the New York firm.
In 2019, Harry Winston concluded its passionate Histoire de Tourbillon started 10 years earlier with a brilliant 10th chapter. Its key character, the regulating device invented by Abraham-Louis Breguet, constantly evolved during the saga through a host of sophisticated engineering exploits. And, like with any great novel, fans really hope to meet up with their favorite character again even after the last page comes to an end. The brand gifts them with this pleasure through The Ultimate Quadri Tourbillon which reinterprets the final opus brilliantly. The case protecting the caliber, which we left in a modern-day rectangular shape, hits the stage this time round in curvaceous style, in the form of a pocket watch. This choice meant having to adapt the impressive hand-wound movement assembled using some 662 components.
And, the timepiece, worked on like a piece of fine jewelry, now dazzles like a thousand stars. Its flange and the edges of its 57.2 mm-diameter white gold case are set with 254 baguette-cut diamonds! The sparkle of these precious stones emphasizes the skeletonized dial with its captivating scenography. Below the bright blue titanium bridges, four tourbillons twirl like Whirling Dervishes. The Arabic numerals 3, 6 and 9 stand out with their lighter azure hue and their raised position. The finishes of parts of the bridges and discs create a subtle relief design. And, the highlight of this living show, an emerald-cut diamond which reigns supreme in this stunning scenescape at 12 o’clock.
Last but not least, this one-of-a-kind piece embraces a self-supporting white gold and aventurine marquetry structure, set off with 18 diamonds, which reproduce the neo-classical entrance to the iconic store located on 5th Avenue in New York.
