SAXONIA OUTSIZE DATE A. Lange & Söhne

IN PRAISE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT

The timeless charm of this reference from the German watchmaker continues to seduce with these novel variations boasting a solid silver dial just like the initial pieces of the collection.

Understated, classical-looking and truly up-to-the-minute… Since the Glashütte manufacture was re-established, the Saxonia unveiled back in 1994 has become renowned for showcasing A. Lange & Söhne’s philosophy. The models issued thereinafter have constantly pursued the same esthetic standards, as illustrated by the Saxonia Outsize Date introduced in 2018. This time round, the timepiece, which has become an icon, set off with a new silvered dial, perpetuates its inimitable style. On this pared-down scenescape, the dauphine-type hour and minute hands rotate respectively, hovering over a highly-accurate minute tracker comprising beveled baton-shaped indexes. A small seconds ticks by at 6 o’clock whilst an outsize date reigns supreme at 12 o’clock. In this harmonious scenography, the time data stands out perfectly well and ensures excellent readability.

This automatic movement, assembled using some 286 components, wows with its performances and elegant finishes. When fully wound, it also delivers a power reserve of 72 hours. The presence of a sapphire-crystal on the caseback invites the wearer to admire some of the workings at play as well as the oscillating weight.
