THE ART OF FULLNESS AND EMPTINESS
With this state-of-the-art upgrade, the watchmaker from Les Breuleux brilliantly combines the delicacy of a caliber with the powerfulness of a style in an openworked setting.

In the realm of tonneau-shaped watches that Richard Mille treasures, a few pieces stand out with their rounded case, as illustrated by the RM 33 range references. The new RM 33-03 Automatic is no exception to this rule. Yet, when it comes to spotting the differences with the previous iteration, a host of these details help transform the watch’s look without ever detracting from its assertive personality. In short, the dial features a highly-unusual time-data display scenography. The hour and minute hands are now linked to a small seconds which nestles in a subtly- skeletonized adornment comprising an original kinetic composition, at 6 o’clock. The hour chapter has also been revamped. Only the numerals 3, 9, and 12 remain here. The others have been replaced by markers bedecked in vibrantly-hued Super-LumiNova®.

“The idea is to accentuate the volumes within the caliber. Moreover, the empty and full spaces created by the movement’s high degree of skeletonizing offer a play on shadow and light”, states Cécile Guenat, Director of Creation and Development at Richard Mille. And, the result? In this edition, the RMXP3 caliber is embraced in a 41.7 mm-diameter, 9.7 mm-thick case, crafted in grade 5 titanium or in a blend of Carbon TPT® and red gold. This new selfwinding movement boasts key characteristics inherent to all the brand’s beating hearts, such as a variable-inertia balance wheel. Over the course of the virtually 42-hour power reserve, it precisely drives the semi-instantaneous vertical date display at 4.30. Its grade 5 titanium bridges and its micro-rotor are unveiled through the sapphire-crystal caseback. Here, high-tech and stylistic features join together as one. With its RM 33-03 Automatic, Richard Mille once again redefines the codes of roundness, by infusing it with its very own graphic intensity and energy.
