ENAMELED WAVES
A dewdrop frozen in green enamel inspires a yellow gold creation in which relief, light, and craftsmanship combine to create a visual illusion of rare depth, with shifting, poetic reflections.
Launched in 2024 with a blue dial evoking the ripples that skim the water’s surface, Czapek’s Promenade Goutte de Rosée watch now translates this poetry into a more organic style. Limited to 25 pieces, this new interpretation draws its inspiration from the freshness of spring mornings and the light reflecting off damp foliage. Yellow gold lends a new warmth to this 38mm-diameter creation, without detracting from the understated elegance characteristic of the collection.
Its main attraction lies in its green Grand Feu enamel dial, developed in collaboration with the Donzé Cadrans workshop. Created on a silver base stamped with a concentric relief pattern, this surface is coated with five successive layers of translucent enamel, each requiring a firing in the kiln. The variations in thickness between the recesses and the raised areas create a play of light that gives the illusion of a natural gradient. More complex to master than blue, the green required numerous trials to ensure stability, adhesion, and uniformity. The dial manufacturing process has a scrap rate of nearly 50%, making each piece a unique example with slightly different shades and depth. Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the SXH5.1 in-house movement is built around a micro-rotor made of recycled platinum. Its seven openworked bridges are inspired by the historic pocket watches of François Czapek (circa 1811–1869) and reveal a particularly open architecture. Beating at 4hz, it offers up to 60 hours of power reserve and features a stop-seconds function for precise time setting.
