PANTHÈRE Cartier

THE FELINE HOUR

As a classic from the Parisian house, the elegant watch collection ventures into the heart of the watchmaking savannah to unearth pieces in gold studded with diamonds or decorated with precious stripes.

Cartier‘s watchmaking bestiary expanded a few months ago at the Watches and Wonders exhibition in Geneva, welcoming new additions to the Panthère collection. The Parisian brand’s iconic animal has left its feline mark on five pieces, available in yellow or rose gold and in three sizes, including one richly adorned with precious marbling.

The cases (36.5×26.7mm, 30.3x22mm, and 25x20mm) are all topped with an eight-nail bezel set with diamonds, whose curve emphasizes the square surface of the dial. On this silver-white face, black Roman numerals and a railway-like minute track are overlaid by a pair of blued steel sword-shaped hands indicating the hours and minutes. The stones accompany the first links of the supple, ergonomic bracelet at the attachments, before gradually giving way to the gold metal. At the center of this five-act animal show, a rose gold watch catches the eye with its flamboyant zebra-striped coat. Its spectacular design, which combines colors, materials, and textures, is composed of diamonds, orange-yellow spessartites, and delicately glittering black or brown lacquer bands. Time is discreetly indicated by two gold hands, also sword-shaped, on a dial with no hour markers but covered with diamonds. The time is provided by a quartz movement.
