OYSTER PERPETUAL 36 Rolex

LIFE IN COLOR

The crown-logoed brand rolled in the fall season with a host of colors by unveiling a series of watches at the end of the summer where each face appears to adorn a color more sparkling than the other. A good-mood style which is highly-welcomed in this rather strange year of 2020.

Surprising, stunning, sparkling. There’s no end to the qualifiers we can use to describe the novel quintet showcased by Rolex at the end of summer. Basically, in a watchmaking scenescape overflowing with mainly black, white and blue dials, these new Oyster Perpetual 36 pieces do us the world of good, by adding a positive, dynamic touch to this ever-so strange year. Color has always been a means of expression, a wonderful way to fly in the face of gloom and, right now, it’s definitely highly-welcomed.

rolex oyster perpetual 36 2020 collectionThis little watchmaking rainbow comprises five unprecedented shades, a far cry from the classical codes which the brand generally invites in: cotton-candy pink, turquoise blue, orangey-red, sunny yellow and forest green. The hours, minutes and seconds are indicated by a trio of central baton-style hands which hover over the indexes, all feature white gold and are coated with Chromalight, a blue-glowing ultra-luminescent material developed by Rolex in 2008.

The 36 mm-diameter case, perfect for any wrist, is fashioned in Oystersteel, a sturdy, corrosion-resistant alloy. It boasts a screwed caseback and a crown equipped with the Twinlock double-watertight system, which enables immersions to depths of 100 meters. The new Superlative chronometer-certified 3230 automatic caliber, delivering a great power reserve of 70 hours, nestles inside.

Each Oyster Perpetual 36 is accompanied by a bracelet that’s totally integrated in the case and made of three rows of Oystersteel links attached by an Oysterclap folding clasp.
