UTTERLY TIMELESS
During an event in Shanghai, TAG Heuer unveiled the latest piece in the “Monaco Through Time” collection, which celebrates the anniversary of its automatic chronograph with its singular case.
TAG Heuer wraps up commemoration of the 50th anniversary of its famous chronograph with a 39mm square case on the side with the Monaco 2009–2019 Limited Edition. It is distinguished by aesthetic codes specific to the current decade. Sobriety is essential, with a dial dressed in carbon gray with a radiant brushed finish. This sober, almost monochrome universe is enlivened by a few touches of red on the central second hand and the counter hands. For the rest, we find all the characteristics specific to the timepiece, such as the crown positioned at 9 o’clock and the push-buttons located at the opposite end, at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock.
Of course, the 169 pieces of this limited edition are intended to be a modern incarnation of the 11 caliber developed in the 1960s by Heuer, Breitling, Dubois-Depraz and Hamilton-Büren. This self-winding movement (40-hour power reserve) coordinates the time display and small seconds information. It also controls measurement of short times that can be read using the central hand and the minute totalizer at 9 o’clock.
Just like the other opuses presented this year, the back of the steel case is engraved “Monaco Heuer,” with the logo, “1999-2009 Special Edition” and “1 of 169.” The watch is also worn on a perforated black calf leather strap with a folding clasp. This model is presented in a dark blue case, decorated with the Heuer logo and a horizontal band with a chessboard pattern.
