MÉTIERS D’ART TRIBUTE TO GREAT EXPLORERS Vacheron Constantin

SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE

The Geneva-based manufacture pursues its incredible journey into the history of discoverers with three 10-piece limited editions exalted by sumptuous paintings.

As well as being Portuguese, all three worked towards opening up a new ocean route towards the East Indies during the 15th century by rounding the Cape of Good Hope. To commemorate these maritime milestones, Vacheron Constantin devotes a series of 3 timepieces to them, each produced in just 10 pieces. On each Métiers d’Art Tribute to Great Explorers watch, craftsmen’s talents reign supreme. Extremely-detailed miniature paintings conjure up their respective itineraries. Each décor takes its inspiration from the 1519 Miller Atlas. The use of Grand Feu enamel immortalizes them. All the versions are protected by a 41 mm-diameter rose gold case and are worn on an alligator strap attached by a folding clasp.

The sweeping hours move around a minute circular arc, incremented 10 by 10, driven by the 1120 AT caliber. This selfwinding movement offers this exquisite animation a comfortable 48-hour power reserve. The stylish caseback invites to admire some of the 205 mechanical components including the gilded oscillating weight boasting a tapisserie finish.
