MANUFACTURE ROYALE – 1770 openwork dial

“Our character is what gives our soul its qualities,” wrote French philosopher Voltaire who founded (the) Manufacture Royale in 1770 in Ferney (France). This quote epitomises the timepiece named after the year the company was founded. With its openwork features and slim design, the 1770 is bursting with character! Its 43mm steel body is surrounded by a fluted bezel punctuated by screws and houses some of the in-house manual-wind MR03 calibre whose flying tourbillon can be glimpsed at 7 o’ clock on the dial. It brings to life the hours and minutes in the form of two impressive sword-shaped hands and gives the watch a 108-hour power reserve displayed in an off-centre counter at 9.30 on the blue grey dial. The edge of the dial has been carefully hollowed out to showcase part of the movement and is dominated by 12 pyramid-shaped markers on the chapter ring. Price: 51,840 CHF
