LES CABINOTIERS TEMPORIS DUO GRAND COMPLICATION OPENFACE Vacheron Constantin

A MEDLEY OF COMPLICATIONS

This one-off piece, adorned with the Poinçon de Genève (Geneva Seal), showcases the dexterity of Genevan watchmakers. Here, incredible style and state-of-the-artness join together brilliantly in an elaborate scenography.

Staging a complication isn’t an easy task. So, when it comes to placing the focus on three in a single case, well, the challenge becomes a demonstration of know-how which only a fine-watchmaking manufacture can master. Through its Les Cabinotiers Temporis Duo Grand Complication Openface watch, Vacheron Constantin displays its ability to enchant the most complicated beating hearts, as seen here through Caliber 2757 S, assembled using some 696 components. A tourbillon bearing the small seconds, a monopusher split-seconds chronograph, and a minute repeater reign supreme inside a 45 mm-diameter rose gold case.

Christian Selmoni, the brand’s Style and Heritage Director states that this layout “is highly-original as it’s very rare in the world of wristwatches, mainly for reasons of volume and accuracy”, and informs us that “the chronograph structure, with its clutch system and column wheel, duplicated on this piece for the split-seconds, presents an additional challenge when it comes to miniaturization.” Here, the watchmakers added even more complexity as they went for an openworked, layered scenography. Nonetheless, reading is excellent thanks to the smart positioning of the time data. What’s more, the manual-wind movement delivers a power reserve of 58 hours. During this period, the hours, quarters, and minutes can be chimed on demand. The visual experience is boosted by an outstanding acoustic and engineering feat.
