L.U.C FULL STRIKE SPIRIT OF THE WARRIOR Chopard

SAMURAI TIME

This one-of-a-kind timepiece, whose outstanding construction has been awarded the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark, infuses fine watchmaking with a powerful narrative set off by métiers d’art.

Medieval novels, urban thrillers, period series adorning traditional costumes and chronicles of modern-day Japan, elaborate flavors and scenery beyond compare… The Land of the Rising Sun fascinates more than ever with its rich diversity and its cultural expressions. Watchmaking hasn’t been forgotten either, as seen through Chopard‘s L.U.C Full Strike Spirit of the Warrior watch. Its dial is embellished with a hand-engraved Samurai mask inspired by the ones worn during the Edo era (1603-1868). The hour and minute hands, as sharp as katanas, hover over a railway-type minute tracker transferred unto the sapphire crystal using a decal. The scenography surprises with its opening at 10 o’clock which reveals a mysterious mechanism. A tap on the discreet chiseled pusher integrated in the crown triggers the hammers of a minute repeater to chime the hours, quarters, and minutes.

The complication is driven by the L.U.C 08.01-L caliber, many of whose 533 components are finely decorated. This manual-winding movement also stands out through its optimal energy management. One barrel is dedicated to the striking mechanism and another to the time data. An indicator at 2 o’clock featuring two separate small hands enables the wearer to know how much reserve is left for the movement and minute repeater. This prestigious ensemble reigns inside a 42.5 mm-diameter ethical white gold case. A fresco sculpted with scenes from the daily life of a Samurai, alternating between combat and meditation, graces the caseband. The bezel is bedecked with armor patterns. Oni, ogres, nestling on the barrette between the lugs, protect the warrior. In short, every stylistic detail nourishes this epic tale worn on a red and black kimono fabric strap.
