FUN-LOVING

The allegorical portrayal of death and time flying by unveils a novel, mischievous face which adorns this one-of-a-kind, expressive edition.

The calavera, iconic to the Day of the Dead in Mexican culture, is a symbol which has become extremely hype and decorates a host of timepieces. The latest creation to date is a Chopard-signed watch, L.U.C. Skull One. This 100-piece limited series center stages a highly-graphical depiction of an impish skull on a black-lacquered dial. The rather more classical dauphine-style hour and minute hands as well as the indexes and Arabic numerals, 3, 6, 9, 12, which are all gilded, exalt this festive finery. The ensemble nestles in a 40 mm-diameter microbead-blasted DLC steel case which delights with its slimline 7.20 mm thickness.

This movement stands out with its compact design: 27.4 mm diameter and 3.30 mm high. This self-winding movement’s small volume doesn’t prevent it from being a high performer and offering a power reserve of some 58 hours. This comfortable autonomy is possible thanks to two barrels and a micro-rotor fashioned in tungsten alloy. The presence of a darkened sapphire-crystal on the caseback moreover invites to admire the Côtes de Genève-decorated bridges.
