With this highly-original 100-piece limited edition flaunting wow-inspiring design, the Nyon watchmaker continues to celebrate its iconic Big Bang’s 20th anniversary.
During the well-known Dia de los Muertos, Mexicans joyfully honor the memory of those who have passed in a kaleidoscope of colors. In keeping with this festive spirit, Hublot unveiled its Big Bang Unico Calavera All Black during the last SIAR (Salon Internacional Alta Relojeria). This creation, where Mexican tradition encounters up-to-the-minute fine watchmaking, centers on a resolutely monochrome scenography which the brand’s collectors love so much. On the translucent dial, a stylized calavera, an allegorical depiction of the fragility of life, is set in motion as time data passes by. Its left eye constantly moves as the small-seconds’ wheel rotates. What’s more, the transparency of the smoked sapphire crystal offers a striking, mesmerizing vista over the architecture of the HUB1280 caliber assembled using some 354 components.
This selfwinding movement reigns inside a 42 mm-diameter, 14.5 mm-thick ceramic case, waterproof to depths of 100 meters. The material adds to the powerful aesthetic appeal and, at the same time, provides great resistance to everyday hazards. Over the course of the 72 hours of power reserve delivered by the beating heart, short-cycle times are measured meticulously via the titanium pushers and the column wheel visible at 6 o’clock.
The totally gray-and-black-hued Big Bang Unico Calavera All Black comes complete with a rubber and calfskin strap, in the same shades as the watch, adorned with an embossed skull motif.
