BIG BANG MECA-10 CONCRETE JUNGLE Hublot

BIG BANG MECA-10 CONCRETE JUNGLE Hublot

URBAN ART

To celebrate the inauguration of its new address on 5th Avenue in New York, the Nyon-based watchmaker unveils an edition specifically-designed for and totally-in-tune with this store.

Although concrete has made its mark in architecture since Le Corbusier, in watchmaking, Hublot stands out as a trailblazer. In 2020, the brand center staged its awesome Classic Fusion Concrete Jungle New York, an ode to the Big Apple. This year, the Big Bang Meca-10 Concrete Jungle reiterates the adornments of its elder sibling with a 44 mm-diameter case crafted in matte concrete made from fine cement, epoxy resin, and fiberglass. The injection of an anti-UV additive prevents fading over time. What’s more, an anti-graffiti treatment stops other pollutants from being absorbed by the composite material.

This surprising timepiece comes with the range’s original HUB1201 caliber. This manual-wind movement, assembled using some 223 components is literally one-of-a-kind with its incredible 240-hour power reserve. Over the course of ten days, the Super-LumiNova®-topped hour and minute hands tick by in a skeletonized, layered scenography that showcases the beating heart and its twin parallel barrels. An indicator at 6 o’clock lets the wearer know how much energy’s left. A small seconds at 9 can be used to check the caliber’s working correctly. This special edition is complemented by two straps that can be easily-interchanged thanks to the One Click system: a Velcro®-attached gray fabric one and a rubber one secured by a folding clasp. The combination of materials highlights the cutting-edge, urban style of the model, a mix of industrial work of art and a fine-watchmaking watch.
