Nearly 50 years after the original design by Gérald Genta (1931–2011), the renowned Geneva-based designer and creator of several modern watchmaking classics, the Ingenieur watch continues to evolve without compromising its identity. With this new Ingenieur Automatic 35, IWC enriches its collection with a brand-new dial called “Pool,” an aquatic shade that revitalizes the model’s character without altering its proportions or architecture. On the contrary, this new variation highlights in a new light the clean lines, volumes, and contrasts of light that define the personality of this iconic timepiece. It brightens up the wrist with its “fresh” spirit, perfect for summer.
Featuring a 35-mm-diameter stainless steel case and an integrated metal bracelet, the watch embodies the key aesthetic elements of this product line. Its dial features the characteristic checkered pattern, whose relief gains added depth thanks to this shade inspired by the crystal-clear waters of lagoons. The rhodium-plated hands and hour markers, coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensure optimal readability, while the bezel, secured by five functional screws, immediately evokes the model’s heritage. The transparent case back reveals the automatic Caliber 47110, adorned with Côtes de Genève, and its gold oscillating weight. This movement, operating at a frequency of 4hz, offers approximately 42 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Capable of withstanding dives to a depth of 100m, this new model from IWC demonstrates that a simple change in color can offer an entirely new perspective on a contemporary icon.
