One year after celebrating the 160th anniversary of its manufacture, Zenith opens a new chapter in its history with the G.F.J. Calibre 135 Double Signed with Naoya Hida & Co. As a first creation of “The Double Signed Program,” this limited edition of ten pieces brings together two visions of watchmaking driven by the same quest for precision. Inspired by watches with a “double signature”, it pays homage to the legendary Caliber 135, the most award-winning competition movement of its era, through the sensitive and refined vision of Japanese watchmaker Naoya Hida.
Housed in a 39.15 mm platinum case with balanced proportions, the watch echoes the aesthetic codes of Naoya Hida’s NH Type 2A model. Its solid silver dial exudes understated elegance, faithful to the spirit of the 1950s. Every detail, from the hour markers to the famous double signature, is hand-engraved by master engraver Keisuke Kano and then delicately accented with blue Urushi lacquer. The hour and minute hands, crafted from hand-polished solid gold, complement a small seconds hand in blued steel at 6 o’clock.
Visible through the sapphire case back, the hand-wound Calibre 135 reveals an iconic architecture enhanced by Côtes de Genève, dark ruthenium finish, and gold accents. COSC-certified and beating at a gentle frequency of 2.5hz, it combines a large variable-inertia balance wheel, a Breguet balance spring, and a stop-seconds mechanism with a 72-hour power reserve. This watch comes with three exclusive straps in Himeji Kurozan leather, Kyoto-crafted Wagyu leather, and Japanese Kaihara denim, all featuring a platinum pin buckle engraved with the initials G.F.J.
