Ebel has always imagined its production around a powerful notion: sport and elegance are in no way contradictory. Quite the opposite actually! This idea of style, where beauty and practicality marry, took centerstage from the moment the brand was launched in 1911. This desire has thrived down through the years. The Classic Chronograph 40mm 115th Anniversary as such celebrates this complicity between these two aesthetic approaches.
Ebel has gone for a sleek and classic presentation of the time data on the watch’s opaline dial. The hour chapter made up of Roman numerals is fringed by a highly-detailed minute tracker and a tachymetric scale. A date aperture is displayed between 4 and 5 o’clock. The traditional 30-minute and 12-hour counters, along with the small seconds, take on a didactic position. All the hands, 3N yellow gold-plated and polished, gleam on this resolutely timeless scenography.
This harmonious staging is embraced by a 40 mm-diameter, 11.60 mm-thick steel case, topped by an 18-karat 3N yellow gold bezel, set off with screws crafted in the same precious material. This holder protects the selfwinding Dubois Depraz DD2222 caliber, visible through the sapphire-crystal back. In order to underscore the original aesthetic philosophy even more, the Classic Chronograph 40mm 115th Anniversary is worn on an integrated metal bracelet that stands out through the wavy design of its links which flaunt a solar-hued trim. From bygone days to today, elegance has always rhymed with detail.
