RM 55-01 Richard Mille

UNCOMPROMISING LIGHTNESS

The brand center stages its technical know-how with this model flaunting ethereal design and a caliber weighing less than 5 grams. Less is more, once again!

With the RM 55-01, Richard Mille continues to explore watchmaking where emptiness becomes a substance in its own right. This new creation, focusing on a low-key, skeletonized style, pursues a quest for lightness initiated in 2011 with the RM 035 and its RMUL1 caliber weighing but 4.3 grams, followed by the RM 055 Bubba Watson and then the RM 61-01 Yohan Blake. These models made a powerful high-tech statement with their grade 5 titanium mainplate, their Titalyt®-treated bridges, their variable inertia balance wheel vibrating at 4 Hz, their twin barrel system, and the use of silent blocks and titanium screws to attach the movement, without the need for a traditional mounting ring.

This model introduces the RMUL4 caliber, a manual wind movement whose openworked architecture showcases its mechanical complexity and reduces its weight. With its power reserve of around 55 hours, it ensures timekeeping stability and comfort of use. This beating heart nestles inside the signature tripartite tonneau-shaped case, whose size boosts user-friendliness and the watch’s modern-day look. The three versions available use materials developed by NTPT®, Carbon TPT®, white Quartz TPT® and gray Quartz TPT®. These multilayer composites, obtained under high pressure, deliver extreme resistance and create one-of-a-kind visual patterns. The RM 55-01, true to Leonardo da Vinci’s idea that “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”, turns minimalist design into a high-tech, artistic masterpiece.
