LES CABINOTIERS ARMILLARY TOURBILLON – MYTH OF THE PLEIADES Vacheron Constantin

FROM MYTHOLOGY TO ASTRONOMY

The manufacture gives us a dazzling demonstration of its eclectic craftsmanship in a piece that pays tribute to the armillary sphere used to locate celestial bodies.

“La Quête (The Quest) series pays tribute to astronomical observation, from which the measurement of time originated. It also draws inspiration from great mythological and legendary epics…”, states Christian Selmoni. Among the creations, the one-off Les Cabinotiers Armillary Tourbillon – Myth of the Pleiades fascinates through its staging of time information, its outstanding finishes, and its exceptional caliber. Its 45 mm-diameter rose gold case, set with ten brilliant-cut diamonds, is enhanced with exquisite hand-engraving, which took 450 hours of meticulous work, offering a mythological depiction of Orion pursuing the Pleiades, the seven sisters who were turned into stars.

“This watch stands out with its armillary tourbillon, a regulating system driven by two axes of rotation directly inspired by developments made for Reference 57260, presented in 2015 with 57 complications… The name “armillary” conjures up a moving representation of celestial bodies as observed from Earth”, specifies Vacheron Constantin‘s Style and Heritage Director. Caliber 1990 animates the whirling of the regulating device, which has a concentric beat that is generated by a titanium hairspring without a terminal curve. The manual-wind movement delivers around 60 hours of power reserve, a period during which it has sufficient energy to accurately power the instantaneous retrograde system of the hour and minute hands.
