MINERAL STRENGTH
This 999-piece numbered limited edition revives a model from the 1980s carved from a stone extracted from a well-known peak in the Alps, located in Switzerland.

Time expresses itself in many ways, sometimes imperceptible, sometimes sovereign. Through its boundless patience, time lifts up mountains, shaped landforms. Rocks become a visible recollection of its work. When the snow melts, the Jungfrau’s rocks unveil themselves. Back in 1985, after having taken a sample, Tissot carved the case of the RockWatch out of this brown-hued material, a world first. The watch was rolled out in several sizes, 20, 30 and 33 mm. In 1988, a bona fide collection was created and enhanced with other so-called ‘exotic’ stones from all four corners of the globe. Forty years on and the brand has chosen to pay tribute to this incomparable, daring creation. The block of granite sculpted over the centuries has been turned into a 38 mm-diameter casket, accompanied by a leather strap. This wraparound is attached to the lugs, which, in turn, embrace the screwdown steel caseback. This reverse side is adorned with engravings which evoke the origin of the Alpine stone, the height of the Jungfrau (4,158 meters), and the serial number.

The two baton-style hour and minute hands, identical to those in the previous models, are still driven by a quartz caliber. Like all these types of movements available from the brand, this one draws its energy from a long-lasting battery and is equipped with an EOL (End of Life) indicator.
This collector’s piece is presented in a box that reflects the minerality of the RockWatch, built to last.
