PILOT BIG DATE FLYBACK 160TH ANNIVERSARY Zenith

OUT OF THE BLUE

The star-logoed manufacture celebrates its 160 years of existence through a blue ceramic trilogy. One of these models combines two elaborate complications. Focus.

Zenith rolls out its Pilot Big Date Flyback 160th Anniversary center staging its technical know-how deep in the heart of this monochrome, though far from monotonous model. Forever true to the tradition of watches that have always accompanied explorers as they soar through the skies, large hands on the dial hover over an hour chapter made up of XL-sized Arabic numerals. Powerful white SLN C1 Super-LumiNova® exalts these. This luminescent material ensures time data is ever-so easy to read no matter the conditions of light. To promote visual harmony, the small seconds poised at 9 o’clock creates visual balance with the chronograph 30-minute counter, whilst an instantaneous big date ticks over at 6 o’clock. Day change only takes 0.007 seconds inside this aperture.

This anniversary piece also measures short-cycle times swiftly thanks to the flyback function of its chronograph complication set inside the El Primero 3652 caliber. This selfwinding movement (60 hours’ power reserve), nestling inside a 42.5 mm-diameter case crafted in blue ceramic, consorts with high frequency, just like the original device did when unveiled back in 1969, this time round, 36,000 vibrations an hour which guarantees absolute accuracy. For a perfectly-fitting finish, this 160-piece limited edition comes complete with an interchangeable rubber strap, in the same azure hue as the watch, and is decorated with a Cordura effect. An alternative white wraparound heightens the summery look even more.
