MOUNTAINS AND MARVELS
This 986-piece limited edition features an outstanding case and world time. In a nutshell, the brand whisks us off on a fascinating journey to the white continent.

With this 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen Mount Vinson Limited Edition, Montblanc invites us once again to tread in Reinhold Messner’s footsteps. The Italian explorer climbed to the top of Mount Vinson (4,892 meters) in the Antarctica, in 1986. To honor his feat, this limited series flaunts striations and the blue hues of the South Pole’s icy panorama around the middle of its 43.5 mm-diameter titanium case, waterproof to depths of 100 meters. To ensure the colors of the perpetually-changing scenescapes remain, the case middle was made using an exclusive composite combining quartz fibers and aluminized basalt fibers, calcium carbonate and a light blue resin.
And, to create a perfectly-fitting finish with the tones of the case, the dial takes on a glacier pattern that’s set off with blue, green and gray sfumato effect and a texture obtained using the gratté-boisé technique. Inside this scenography, time data intrinsic to the collection reigns supreme. Universal time is read off the two relief-style Northern and Southern hemispheres, respectively placed at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock. They’re completed by a second time zone display and a date. A bezel adorned with the cardinal points encircles everything. As in the previous models of the collection, “Zero Oxygen” prevents fogging and oxidation, among other things. According to Montblanc, this process “ensures all the components last longer and will provide continued precision over time”. A certificate comes with each timepiece and guarantees the watch has been successfully encased using this technology.
