VOUTILAINEN – Tourbillon-6

“This is my universe. My whole life turns around watches.” This is how Kari Voutilainen, the ingenious Finnish watchmaker with a 30 year passion for watchmaking describes himself. He specialises in restoring complicated pieces and went independent in 2002 to produce rather technical timepieces with a timeless design such as the Tourbillon-6. Its in-house movement in a 39mm white gold case brings to life the hour and minute functions and provides a 65-hour power reserve. The tourbillon appears in an unusually large cage at 6 o’ clock on the blue-tone slightly openworked dial. The size of the cage has pushed the hour and minute track off-centre in the upper half. Two Breguet-style white gold and blue steel hands point to the hours and minutes; the latter appear as dots on a silver ring marking out the two handmade guillochage patterns (barley corn and waves). Price: 240,000 CHF.
