TRIBUTE TO THE CHAMPION
The watchmaker from La Chaux-de-Fonds keeps alive the legend of Magic Senna in Formula 1 with a new limited series featuring a design inspired by the world of Grand Prix racing.
Every year, TAG Heuer commemorates Ayrton Senna da Silva, one of the greatest motor racing champions, who died tragically 27 years ago. The Brazilian race car driver, the brand’s ambassador, has been permanently associated with its image since the first advertising campaign “Don’t crack under pressure” in which he appeared from 1988 to 1993. Holding up under pressure, the Formula 1 Senna Special Edition achieves this with ease thanks to its robust 43mm casing in diamond light coating (DLC) steel with a sanded finish, water-resistant to a depth of 200 meters. On its dial, the indispensable chronograph totalizers can be found. The one at 6 o’clock stands out thanks to the presence of a stylized S. The sub-dials are complemented by a small second hand and a date window at 4:30. To accentuate the watch’s sporty personality, these elements are enhanced by a touch of yellow that perfectly contrasts with the black covering the entire timepiece. The hour and minute hands as well as the hour markers are coated with white Super-Luminova® to ensure excellent clarity. The entire assembly is encircled by a fixed bezel adorned with a tachometer scale.
All time data and measurements are driven by a quartz movement. This caliber is protected by a screwed case back with a Senna Special Edition engraving.
For a comfortable wear, the Formula 1 Senna Special Edition is equipped with an embossed calf leather strap featuring S-shaped patterns reminiscent of Link bracelets.
