BORN TO BE WILD
Muscle cars have their watchmaking equivalents. With aggressive designs and supercharged movements, mechanical powerhouses like the T2M provide crazy performances!
In 2010, visitors to the Independent Watchmakers Exhibition in Geneva had the chance to see an incredible watch on the stand of the young Rebellion brand. Built like a superhero’s car, the T 1000 came with a movement providing 1,000 hours (over 40 days) of power reserve. To achieve this staying power, all the wheels in the calibre were arranged vertically, like a backbone, and driven by three pairs of mainspring barrels. The mechanical architecture came close to a V6 car engine. Eight years later, during Baselworld 2018, Rebellion took the experience further, introducing a new version named T2M, this time powered by a powerful V8. Behind the acronym T2M is a watchmaking powerhouse with up to 1,400 hours of power reserve – almost two months! In the titanium case with its large dimensions (58.7 x 53.1 x 22.3mm), Rebellion has housed a complex movement with eight barrels. The watch is hand-wound using an ingenious winding lever. 420 components make up the calibre REB T2M, and the energy unleashed displays the hours and minutes on two titanium rollers.
This exceptional watch is made in an ultra-limited series of just 10 pieces. It’s worth noting that owners can benefit from a customised movement for their watches. The T2M is worn with a large black ostrich strap linked by a titanium folding buckle.
