Certina has skillfully incorporated a classic watch designed for a feminine wrist into its DS system, available in a number of versions at an affordable price.

Created in 1959, Certina’s DS concept, meaning “double safety”, guarantees that the time pieces made by the brand have high resistance to impacts and strong waterproofing thanks to a number of O-rings (on the winding stem, crown and the back of the watch), a top-quality scratch-proof sapphire glass and a reinforced case back. Originally reserved for the sports model category, this system has little by little been included in the rest of the collection, including the DS Podium Lady.

Three new models have just been added to this family of watches. They cannily blend polished steel and pink-gold coloured PVD-coated steel (bezel and crown, or all the case), a surface treatment consisting in coating a metal with a material such as gold in the form of steam for an almost inalterable result. The DS Podium Lady is attached to the wrist with a steel strap with 5 rows, the 2nd and 4th of which are coated in pink gold PVD, depending on the model, or in leather with an alligator scale pattern.

This women’s model created by Certina is driven by the ETA 2671 calibre, an automatic winding movement with a power reserve of around 38 hours. It also powers the time and date functions.

The hours, minutes and seconds, embodied by leaf-shaped hands and a slim second hand, are displayed in the centre of the watch face in white mother-of-pearl. They glide over the hour rim featuring Roman figures traced in black and a minute track housed on the chapter ring. At 6 o’clock, a window edged with a fine black frame displays the date on a white background.

Two other models complete the DS Podium Lady collection: one with a burgundy leather chapter ring and strap, and the other featuring a black dial with silver-coloured hours and hands.

Price: 645 CHF (steel) – 675 CHF (pink gold PVD on leather) – 725 CHF (two-coloured steel and pink cold PVD)
